Brandon Muniz is considered by Aegis Initiative to be a peddler of false information in pursuit of a personal agenda. Said personal agenda appears to have, at least in the recent past, led to the harassment of individuals he used to be associated with. His usual method of sharing misinformation involves accusing one person of sexual assault and the rest of protecting them, while providing zero actual proof for this accusation. Additionally, it is believed that they will say whatever it takes to convince their audience they are correct in their accusations.

Recommended Handling Methods

Based on Mr. Muniz's behavior and methods, it is considered unlikely that he has gone to any conventions within the past 5 years. It is believed that Mr. Muniz is a recluse and mainly relies on misguided and supportive parents and the reputation of the NYC borough he lives in to shield himself from any accountability.

There are active restraining orders filed against him by at least 2 of the people who he has called out in his standard post,[citation needed] so it's pretty straightforward what should be done: Call the cops

Additionally, it is believed by the victims of his disinformation campaign that Mr. Muniz intentionally keeps his activities restricted to the internet in order to avoid violating the multiple restraining orders filed against him.

Therefore, it is anticipated that any physical threat resulting from Mr. Muniz's actions will come from someone who has decided to believe what Mr. Muniz is claiming and enact violence on his behalf, rather than from Mr. Muniz himself.

Do not let this person work for your convention, they will abuse whatever tiny shred of authority they have to get what they want.

Description

Context for disinformation

Sometime in the distant past, estimated to be between 2015 and 2017, Brandon had a falling out with a group of like-minded friends for a multitude of reasons. For some reason that will probably only ever be known to Brandon himself, this separation led to Brandon deciding that someone within the group was a rapist and the other people within the group were defending them. He would then spend close to the next decade harassing this friend-group, to the point where they would confront him in a groupchat in 2019. It is believed that after the confrontation, he would begin spamming groups related to anime conventions and cosplaying with the post detailed above. As shown below, his usual method is simply to post the same post, over and over again in various Facebook groups, only adding to it when someone gives pushback, valid criticism, or merely asks basic questions like asking for context or even more info.

The prequel

Back in 2019, Brandon would make an incoherent post claiming that one of the targets of his harassment and disinformation was sharing nudes unsolicited, he would share this post at least 10 times to different Facebook groups, and sometimes even the same group a day after the initial post, light on context and details. The original post shows that it was shared 20 times, and due to how Facebook works it is unclear if Mr. Muniz was the one sharing the post every single time. It is unclear why exactly he did this, as no examples of the offending behavior are even alluded to in the original post in a manner that would be safe for Facebook content standards. It is also very unclear as to what the point is of the original post as the caption is poorly worded. However, based on how many times the post is shared and some of the comments underneath the original post it can be inferred that the overall goal is shaming the person pictured.

Second Example

Shared below is a few copies of the exact same post in different groups.

Common Factors

Brandon's disinformation campaign has changed little over the years. He spams a photo, or series of photos, of his target or targets into a large amount of Facebook groups, with what seems to be little rhyme or reason. A caption that is extremely vague and seems to rely on context and information only known to Mr. Muniz and his victims is usually included. After posting, it usually takes anywhere between days and weeks for Brandon to respond unless he is repeatedly badgered for a response. In every interaction between an Aegis Initiative volunteer and Brandon, Brandon fails to give any clear reason for the post or additional context. Based on the hostility of the request for additional information, Mr. Muniz's reaction can vary from casually inferring that the information is all in the post and that the person asking just needs to look harder, inviting the person to a dead groupchat that does nothing to prove why he made the post, to trying to turn the question back around on the person asking and accusing them of being part of the conspiracy against him for merely "exposing the abusers".

Difficulties with the truth

In all interactions with Mr. Muniz, he has been nothing but unhelpful and deceptive at worst and a waste of time at best.

Instead of responding to any questioning of why he is posting with "X did Y thing, here is an example" or any other sort of simple and desperately necessary clarification, he expects others to just simply pick up on what he's trying to communicate with very little context or helpful things like evidence or examples of the thing he appears to be offended by in posting about it. When pressed on his activities, Mr. Muniz will resort to the time-honored traditional defense of playing the victim. For example, in the case of Aegis Initiative volunteers, he claims that he was offered help and was later denied, when in reality he was never met with anything but hostility from the moment he posted in our Facebook group, for exactly the reasons detailed previously. This is not a unique or unprecedented mode of behavior for Mr. Muniz, diving into his older and seemingly abandoned Facebook profiles shows a plethora of incidents where he seems to say one thing about his current situation, but it isn't hard to figure out that something else is actually happening.

Examples include:

  • Complaining about the state of his living space, and then when told to clean it by a family member, immediately blaming the family member's pets for making the mess and refusing to do anything
  • Claiming to be attempting to avoid being issued an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) by going to a Job Corps-like program. Every single person who reads this wiki or goes to Anime Conventions regularly probably had an IEP in school, but the way he speaks about IEP's is like it's a punishment, which it is not intended to be. It is more likely based on his behavior, complicated relationship with the truth, and way he speaks with seeming disdain about being given one of these education plans, that another scenario is more likely. Specifically, that he was instead threatened with placement in one of the NYC school system's infamous "rubber room" facilities which operate similarly to "Alternative Schools" in other parts of the United States, and that instead of complying he dropped out.
  • Claiming that he was confronted in real life by people who took offense to his disinformation campaign at his home and "beat them all up", and that this is why he now has restraining orders filed against him.[citation needed]
  • Claiming to be annoyed when "random people" talk to him, then actively seeking negative attention from random people by lying to them on social media.

Callouts And Admission of Guilt

If you push Brandon to give even a shred of context for his post so that you can determine what exactly he wants the group to do, he will eventually invite you to a groupchat. Contained within this section is a gallery of screenshots from said groupchat. It describes a lot of things in details that Brandon would rather be hidden.

Highlights include:

  • Brandon Muniz being inhumanly stubborn and unable to take any kind of pushback or criticism for his actions
  • Brandon Muniz being accused of defending the uploading of Child Pornography to Facebook
  • Evidence that the animosity between this group of friends and Brandon Muniz goes back to when they were all in High School, which potentially means this drama is over 10 years old based on how old some people in the group claim they were in 2019
  • Screenshots which indicate that Brandon has actually convinced people to harass at least one individual present in the groupchat
  • Brandon harassing one person in the group in DM's then later begging for forgiveness
  • People in the groupchat begging Brandon to simply stop talking

Known Associates

At some point in 2022, Brandon shared his usual post in "New England Convention Group" which is owned and administrated by the Known Person/Threat (KPT) Terrance Hanlon. After seeing that Brandon had been told off by a known volunteer of Aegis Initiative, Terrance and Brandon exchanged information on said volunteer. Evidence of this event has been publicly disclosed by Brandon himself. As a result of this exchange, Brandon has claimed to have knowledge that makes any counterpoint to his claims made by Aegis Initiative volunteers to be invalid. As with most claims that Brandon makes, he will never show his evidence to his claims in an open and honest manner and will either only show select pieces of information that proves his point or refuse to show any evidence at all.
